I use my Garmin Zumo 550 in my car on a regular basis. I have a suction-cup mount to stick it on the windshield, another Touratech mount for my KTM, and a third handlebar mount for my XR650. You can even change the little motorcycle icon to a car if you want. And I can see mine just fine on the bike in daylight. Unless I'm wearing a fluorescent yellow vest and the sun is shining directly on that, then the reflection on the screen can make it a little bit hard to see.
I don't agree with the comment about the mount not being tough. Mine seems fine while riding on dirt roads. The 550 also "knows" if it's in the car or bike mount and makes the letters bigger when you punch in an address. It works quite well with gloves on.
