The chain needs to be replaced and more than likely the sprockets. Putting a new chain on old sprockets is throwing good money after bad. somewhere on the net there is a chart that shows what the measurement

I have adjusted and serviced my chain till my fingers are permanently grease stained, but with no improvement. The chain has the proper tension except at one point. At this point the chain becomes very tight and one link actually lifts off the rear sprocket and makes a clicking noise when it pops back onto the rear sprocket. Am I incorrectly adjusting the chain, or do I need a new chain?
Thanks for the help, Bill (1999 ST2)
